I'm Still Fairly New To Cycling- I Need Some Help Deciding Between A Few Bikes...?
I'm looking for a flat Bar Road Bike (I have back problems) to do mainly road work and some work on bike paths. It'll be for shorter maybe 15-50 mile rides and I was wondering how the 2009 Specialized Vita Elite Woman's Road Bike is...since I'm pretty new to cycling, and I'm still learning, how are the components on this bike? I hear that some bikes have better components than those similar bikes by other brands-

I also tried the Trek 7.5 / 7.6 fx bikes but found the Specialized to be nicer (and about $400 cheaper!), but which of these bikes seem better?
If you know any other bikes similar to these (and that are under $1200) please let me know! Oh and I tried a Giant, but I didn't like it as much as these...

It looks to me like the Specialized lists for about the same price as the Trek 7.5. It is the Trek 7.6 that is more expensive. I wouldn't pay the extra $400 for the 7.6. The upgraded components probably wouldn't be that noticeable.
The Trek 7.5 looks to have slightly higher grade shifting and drive train components than the Specialized. I have friends who use the Hardcase tires on the Trek and they are among the most puncture resistant ones out there. I have used the Deores listed on the trek and have always found them very reliable. I don't have any experience with the EZ Fire components on the Specialized.
If by "nicer" you mean the Specialized was more comfortable to ride then that is the bike you want. Both of these companies make good bikes and the overall the quality level of these two is close enough you probably wouldn't notice the difference.
