Holder Digital Camera
What do I need to take digital pictures of old newspapers?

I'm researching some stuff from the early 1900s. I get a limited amount of time every couple months to visit a library with the old newspapers I need. I'd like to take a digital camera in, shoot pictures of all the pages I want, then go back home, upload them to my PC (to JPEG or PDF), and do the research at home. I could probably take home enough that I could do a lot of research at home beteen visits, rather than move at a snails pace doing all my research in the two hour shots I get every couple of months. I tried using my digital camera, and got several readable pages, but I think that if I knew what I needed and had a camera which could do wide angel closeups, I'd get much more done. Need advice on a camera and on a camera holder to set the camera a fixed distance above the newspapers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You could probably use a camera stand and get the right degee of closeness and clarity.

This is what they are doing in Utah.

Newspapers were scanned at 300 dpi, and in both grayscale and bitonal bit depths because some images were unreadable as bitonal scans.

In each package, the general idea is the same: the real reason to buy it is the tripod, which has legs that can be contorted to wrap around pipes or other objects, enabling you to position your device’s screen and/or camera in places that might otherwise not be reachable. The company’s web site shows the tripod wrapped around a stroller handle, an umbrella, and the top of an airplane seat as ...
