Bicycle Engine Kit
My friend and i want to build a customized bike out of my bicycle?
we don't want the kit we want to put a large 4 stroke on it.So im think i want to try a 16hp vertical engine . What do you suggest for this project? We have a welder and all the tools to make it.Thanks.
It would take a lot of fabrication. the power transfer would have to be through a jack shaft system and a torque converter or centrifugal clutch. The converter is a belt drive while the clutch is a chain. Balance is going to be the hardest and the bicycle's frame is very weak. 16 horses will probably break it. Start with a smaller (3.5?) engine and work out the bugs. Then refit it with a larger engine. You will need a supplier for the iron, a cutting torch of some kind and a welder. You may have to redesign the rear end to a mono shock system and install a larger tire , The chain would need to be a larger size for the extra horses also. Also the braking system (caliper?) would not hold up very long either.
